About

Hi! I’m Nicole, a stay-at-home mom of three human kids and three fur kids.

I’m here to help moms help their families live a healthier, more natural-minded lifestyle.

I don’t exactly fit in with the crunchy moms, but I also don’t fit into conventional, mainstream moms. So, I guess you could say I’m semi-crunchy or semi-conventional. Semi-crunchy sounds a little better though, doesn’t it?

You see, I’m really passionate about many crunchy topics like:

  • Babywearing
  • Breastfeeding (without limits and for as long as mother and baby want)
  • Co-sleeping
  • Natural, non-toxic cleaning products
  • Natural, non-toxic beauty, health, and wellness products
  • Eating whole, organic foods

BUT living such a healthy, natural lifestyle isn’t that easy, right?

I wanted my family and I to feel good and healthy, and live naturally and organically. But I found it so overwhelming and stressful!

Non-toxic, natural, organic products are pricey, inconvenient, and usually time consuming. Not to mention, our society (at least in the U.S.) is not always very supportive of gentle, conscious parenting practices like co-sleeping and extended breastfeeding. It’s gaining momentum, but it’s still hard!

I needed a way to organize my thoughts and ideas. I also wanted a place to record the research and science I’ve found, which backs up all of the crunchy claims on why “this or that” is healthier. I’m a busy mom and if I don’t write stuff down, I forget!

So, SemiCrunchy Stay-at-Home Mom was born!

I’ve created this blog to help moms live a natural, healthy lifestyle without the stress and overwhelm.

A few more fun facts about who I am:

  1. I hate mornings, and NEED coffee to cope.
  2. I am a full time stay-at-home mom, and I cook dinner for my family most nights. BUT I actually really dislike cooking.
  3. I do like baking, especially cookies…but only because I heart cookie dough.
  4. My idea of a good day is spending too much money at Target. While drinking a Starbucks iced hazelnut almond milk latte. #BasicMom
  5. I have no sense of direction. Like zero. And the only way I can read maps is like Joey from Friends- stepping into the map.
  6. I’ve spent a total of 10 years breastfeeding my kids, which I think is pretty cool.
  7. While I love the idea of cloth diapering, which is normally a crunchy mom sorta thing, none of my three children wore cloth diapers.
  8. I’m NOT an anti-vaxer, another crunchy mom sorta thing. (Also, I’m not getting into the vax debate here.)
  9. Hula hooping, yoga, and running are my favorite ways to stay fit.
  10. Actually, running itself kinda sucks. But I love how good I feel after running, so I keep torturing myself and doing it.

So, I’m still learning and figuring out this whole blogging thing. But thanks to Suzi at Start a Mom Blog, I think I’m getting it together. If you’re thinking about starting your own blog I highly recommend her courses- they are super helpful and packed full of all the info you’ll need to start.

I’m so happy you’re here! Thanks for stopping by!
